Waldo's Story: A Rescue Dog Whose Family Was About to Lose Him

His owner had tried every strategy she knew. Her review ends with four words: he saved our dog.

  • Waldo
  • Rescue from a hoarding situation
  • Two weeks of training

Where Waldo started

Waldo is a rescue from Fur Kids. Little was known about his past, except that he had come from a hoarding situation.

By the time his family was introduced to us, there had been a biting incident. His owner put the stakes plainly: "we were facing losing our dog". They had tried every strategy they could and nothing had worked.

The training journey

Tyler Breh, our owner, recommended that Waldo stay with him for two weeks of training. During those two weeks Tyler worked with Waldo every day, at various locations, on essential commands, discipline, reactivity, manners and leash training.

Just as important, Tyler put Waldo in the kinds of situations that come up in his everyday life, so the unwanted behaviors could be worked on where they actually happen.

Then came what his owner calls the biggest hurdle: passing those skills to her. Tyler spent all the time she needed to make sure she understood how to continue Waldo's training at home.

What actually changed

  • Waldo stayed with his family. That was the whole question when they called, and it is how his owner ends her review.
  • He was worked on the real problems. Commands, discipline, reactivity, manners and leash training, in everyday settings.
  • His owner has the skills now. She was taught how to keep the training going at home.

What it changed for his family

A family that expected to give up their dog still has him. His owner describes Tyler as professional, hard working, dedicated and highly skilled, and tells other owners in the same position to call.

Why Waldo's story matters to us

A dog with an unknown past and a bite on his record is the kind of dog families lose. We cannot promise how any dog will turn out, and we never will. What Off Leash K9 Training North Georgia can promise is daily work on the real problem and an owner who leaves knowing what to do next.

Before and after

Waldo, a rescue from a hoarding situation, had bitten and his family was facing losing him. Tyler Breh worked with him every day for two weeks, then taught his owner how to continue at home. Waldo stayed.
